Some Remarks on the Multiverse Concept

The aim of the paper is to put some criticism into the multiverse idea. Such a criticism is especially necessary when the considered topic evades empirical control. We critically asses some “recipes” to produce “other universes”. Some of them seem to be in contrast with the claim that the final theory of physics should be “rigid” in the sense that any perturbation of its parameters or values of its physical constants would entirely ruin the theory. There are two concepts that are involved in almost all speculations concerning the multiverse, namely the concept of probability and the concept of infinity. We analyze them in turn. The crucial point is whether the multiverse hypothesis is empirically falsifiable or not.
